RHYTHM & NOISE: Contents Under Notice (Ralph Records, 109 Minna St. #391, San Francisco, CA 94105) Sophisticated industrial electronics marks this powerful debut by R&N, and makes this Ralph's first foray into the industrial genre.

Side 1 consists of "Monomenon," a long piece in two sections with thick, massive overdubs of clangorous and grating noise-gestures with rhythm-box beats.

Side 2 has shorter pieces, largely less intense and with more attention to detail, and generally more "musical" (at times resembling Eno or Tangerine Dream, though much stranger.) Diamanda Galas lends some eerie voice to one track, and overall I was quite impressed with the originality of material and clarity of the recording.
