THE AMERICAN GAMELAN: David Doty. Tue 7-10PM. An in-depth exploration of this evolving musical medium including performance technique, composition and instrument design. The American Gamelan, like its Indonesian counterpart is a unique set of metallic percussion instruments. The music emphasizes ensemble coordination rather than virtuosity.

VOCAL RESONANCE: Bonnie Barnett. Wed 7-10PM The body is an instrument which moves and sounds. This class combines exposure to world sources in non-traditional vocal techniques with direct experience in vocal body work. Contexts include improvisation, group composition and meditation. 8 class sessions and 4 field trips to resonant spaces.
