Nathan Rubin (Violin, Viola, Chamber Music, Music Literature); Diploma in Violin, Juilliard School.

Mr. Rubin joined the faculty at California State University, Hayward in 1974 and has been concertmaster, not only of the Oakland East Bay Symphony, but the San Francisco Ballet Orchestra, the San Francisco Little Symphony, the Joffrey Ballet Orchestra, and the San Jose Symphony, and co-concertmaster of the Skywalker Symphony. He has recorded extensively, not only solo classical works, but popular, jazz, rock, movie soundtracks and opera. He appears on Epic, Fantasy, Contemporary, CRI and Arch Record labels. He has been featured in many concerto performances including the world premiere of Harold Farberman's concerto "Reflected Realities" written for Mr. Rubin. He has appeared as soloist with the Oakland East Bay Symphony, the San Francisco Symphony under Dimitri Metropolous, the San Francisco Little Symphony, and the San Francisco Ballet Orchestra. Mr. Rubin has been called "the foremost Bay Area talent of the new generation" by music critics. He joined the Mills College faculty in 1955, forming the Mills Performing Group in 1963 with Darius Milhaud, Luciano Berio, and Morton Subotnick, an ensemble that specialized in contemporary music, and was called by the San Francisco Chronicle, one of the finest chamber ensembles in the country.

Brenda Schuman-Post (Oboe, Basic Double-Reeds, Music Business); B.M., Queens College, City University of New York; M.M., State University of New York-Stony Brook; M.F.A., Sarah Lawrence College.

Brenda Schuman-Post is an unusually versatile oboe soloist. Her development of new styles, sounds, techniques, humorous sound effects (train and animal noises) and her exploration of unusual instrumental combinations are influenced by folk oboes (shawms) and ethnic music. Brenda has inspired and premiered new works by American composers including Meyer Kupferman, Ursula Mamlok and Kathleen St. John and has brought to light an obscure repertoire of French salon music. Funded by a grant from the State of California, her ensemble Classical Trash has recorded works by Stanislas Verroust. She is an active recitalist and lecturer on Oboes of the World. She is an advocate of, and consultant for multi-cultural music education and her impressive career includes performances as a concerto and cantata soloist, blue grass, jazz, pop, world fusion, and classical artist. William Trimble (Saxophone, Saxophone Ensemble); B.A., San Jose State University.

Mr. Trimble is one of the most active performers in the United States, and is considered one of the country's leading classical and avant-garde saxophonists. He appears regularly with the San Francisco, Sacramento, and San Jose symphony orchestras, the Kirov Ballet Orchestra (St. Petersburg), and Suisse Romande (Switzerland), as well as in numerous solo and chamber recitals both here and abroad. He is an active recording artist on the Music Masters label. Critical comments include: "...Pavarotti of the Saxophone..." San Francisco Examiner and "...the Dean of the Bay Area's saxophonists..." San Jose Mercury.
