Start the season with four Bay Area composers in a program featuring the final work by legendary Polish composer Witold Lutoslawski * Witold Lutoslawski: Subito (1992) for violin and piano * John Thow: Subito dopo (1994) for flute and piano * Morris Rosenzweig: Roman Passacaglias (1991) for violin, cello, and piano * Jorge Liderman: Tropes V (1994) for piano * Donald Aird: A Moment of Farewell (1993) for flute, clarinet, and percussion * David Soley: Grisaille (1994-95) for flute, clarinet, violin, cello, piano, and percussion (world premiere)

FEBRUARY 5, 1996

Welcome British composer Jonathan Harvey to the Bay Area in a concert spanning the spectrum of contemporary music * Jonathan Harvey: The Riot (1993) for flute/piccolo, bass clarinet, and piano * Bun-Ching Lam: Last Spring for two violins, viola, cello, and piano * Tom Flaherty: Semi-Suite (1990) for cello * Stephen Blumberg: Sextant (1992) for flute, bass clarinet, viola, cello, percussion, and piano * David Pereira: New Work (1995) for flute, clarinet, violin, cello, percussion, and piano

The season concludes with a concert featuring a work newly commissioned for EARPLAY by distinguished Bay Area composer Andrew Imbrie * Andrew Imbrie: EARPLAY Fantasy (1995) for flute, clarinet, violin, cello, percussion, and piano (world premiere) * Andrew Imbrie: Reminiscence (1992) for guitar * Jody Rockmaker: The Eyes of an Abinhaya Dancer (1995) for flute, clarinet, violin, and cello * Hi-Kyung Kim: New Work (1995) for violin, cello,and piano * Perry Goldstein: Total Absorption (1994) for bass clarinet

EARPLAY's season also includes concert appearances at U.C. Santa Cruz (April 17, 1996) and U.C. Davis (April 28, 1996)
