-- Mills College presents a concert to celebrate thirty years of innovation and experimental music at the Center for Contemporary Music. The concert features Non Stop Flight by famed composer Pauline Oliveros. Currently composer-in-residence at Mills, Pauline Oliveros was the first director of the Mills Tape Center (which later became the Center for Contemporary Music).

In this special event, Oliveros will perform with the faculty of CCM as well as the Deep Listening Band, the Hub, Abel-Steinberg-Winant Trio.

Non Stop Flight uses a new version of the expanded instrument system, a performer-controlled electronic processing environment. The piece is structured so that all performers are playing continuously, with highlighted solos and small ensembles emerging at various times. The music is improvisational and meditative. According to Oliveros, "This is not a set of pieces. It's a non-stop flight.

Included is a memorial to David Tudor." Tudor, who died recently at the age of 70, was known as an avant-garde performer and composer. He taught at Mills and was a close associate of John Cage.

The concert begins at 7 p.m. and will continue as a marathon for several hours. Audience members are invited to come and go as they please throughout the event.

General admission is $10, with a $5 admission price for students, senior citizens, and disabled. The concert is in the Concert Hall, which is partially wheelchair accessible.
