Margaret Jenkins Dance Company
Yerba Buena this weekend is hosting the surefire triple bill of the Paul Dresher Ensemble, the Kronos Quartet, and Margaret Jenkins Dance Company. Jenkins will open with the extraordinary Age of Unrest, in which the attacks of her dancers are matched only by the fierceness of the imagery. She will also close the program -- with a new work for 60 volunteer members from the lesbian and gay community. The occasion is a setting, by Jenkins, Ellie Klopp, and Remy Charlip, of Bob Ostertag's All the Rage, written for and performed by the Kronos Quartet. Ostertag wrote the work in the aftermath of the riots that occurred after Pete Wilson vetoed the gay rights bill in 1991. Jenkins calls this site-specific work "witnessing" -- an act, a community, a community space. RITA FELCIANO
