July 7th, 1995 8pm at The Lab in San Francisco, Z Programs presents DUETS featuring Composer/Performer Pamela Z performing an evening of duets with a dangerous list of experimental music and performance personnel. Amy Knoles, Amy X Neuburg, Barbara Imhoff, Dierdre McClure, Donald Swearingen, J Y, Julie Queen, K. Atchley, Laura Carmichael, Laurie Amat, Leigh Evans, Miya Masaoka, Pamela Zed, Squantch, "Virtual Rinde" and Tom Nunn will each take the stage with Ms. Z during the evening to perform a composed or improvised duet. This multi-faceted evening will include voice, electronic processing, samples, strange MIDI controllers, trombone, koto, percussion, harp, woodwinds, a baton, movement and video.
Pamela Z is a San Francisco-based performance musician and composer who works primarily with voice, electronic processing, and sampling technology. She has a wide vocal range and employs a diverse array of styles from experimental extended techniques to operatic "Bel Canto". Ms. Z has done solo performances in Bay Area performance venues and galleries since 1984 and has done numerous tours including appearances at the Knitting Factory and CBGB's Gallery in New York and LACE in Los Angeles. In addition to her solo work, she is a member of interdisciplinary performance ensemble The Qube Chix, has collaborated with Zakros New Music Theatre and The Clubfoot Orchestra , and sings soprano with The San Francisco Symphony Chorus. She is currently developing new solo work utilizing The BodySynthx, a MIDI controller which allows the performer to trigger sounds with physical gestures.
