MONTHLY CONCERTS by the SPHINX CONSORT

One part of the Artist-in-Community Program Ed would change is the ambitious schedule of one concert per month with the Sphinx Consort. After eight month's experience - that's eight totally different shows" - about four concerts per year seems a reasonable number. There are four concerts planned the first four months of 1978.

Sphinx Consort performances of "Sophia's Wisdom", a New Oratorio for Choir, Brass and Piano, will take place on Saturday, February 25th at Pangaea, and Sunday, March 5th at the Blue Dolphin. The program will also include other works by Ed for brass quartet, piano solo, and a capella choir.

On Friday, March 24th, Sphinx Consort will perform again at Pangaea - this time in "Ennead" for String Ensemble, and will present graphic scores by several members of the Consort.

"Blood", the final concert by the Sphinx Consort in this year-long series, will be held at the Blue Dolphin on Saturday, April 15th. This show will feature a quintet of multli-instrumentalists and will be mostly improvisation.
