Kronos Quartet opens new season
The decidedly unorthodox Kronos Quartet opened its new home season recently with three sold-out concerts at Theatre Artaud in San Francisco. the shows featured the eclectic string quartet performing new commissioned works, including an impenetrable number by S.F.'s Mr. Bungle. In addition to pieces on former FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover and the late journalist I.F. Stone, Kronos delivered the gripping "All the Rage," a powerful composition inspired by California Governor Pete Wilson's veto of a bill designed to protect gays and lesbians from discrimination.
