Trio Phoenix pays tribute to Henry Cowell
The Trio Phoenix, a recently formed ensemble of local musicians, will give a concert, the first of a three-part series, at 8 p.m. Jan. 28 [1994] at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts. The program will pay tribute to Henry Cowell, a Menlo Park native who led an influential life as a composer, pianist, inventor and world traveler. The audience will be invited to join the performers for an on-stage reception following the concert.
In addition to "Four Combinations for Three Instruments" by Cowell, the program will include "May Rain" and "Trio" by Lou Harrison, and will feature mezzo-soprano Wendy Hillhouse. The Trio Phoenix is comprised of violinist Kay Stern, cellist Sarah Fiene and pianist Josephine Gandolfi. Tickets are $15 and are available through the Mountain View Center ticket office.
